Expert Reviews

93 Points | International Wine Cellar , February 2011

Opaque ruby.  Slow-to-open aromas of dark berries, cherry compote, licorice, black tea, violet and smoky minerals, with a hint of blood orange in the background.  Smooth, seamless and precise, with deep dark fruit flavors and notes of bitter chocolate and floral pastilles that gain strength with air.  Sappy and very persistent on the structured finish, which echoes the cherry and licorice notes.  I had the chance to taste (and drink!) this wine at least a half-dozen times, three of them from magnum, and feel severe, baby-killing remorse; no way you should be opening one of these for a very long time, unless I’m there.(Louis/Dressner Selections, New York, NY)

About Beaujolais

Made from the Gamay grape, the red wines of Beaujolais are mostly exuberantly fruity and brisk wines that are often served lightly chilled for added refreshment.
