90 Points | International Wine Cellar , September/October 2010

($24; 14.5% alcohol) Good medium red. Very intense aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant and black pepper are punched up by a fresh violet note. Bright, juicy and vinous, with serious intensity and lovely sweetness to its spicy, black fruit cocktail-like flavors; zippy acidity keeps it light and lively on the palate. Finishes with very good definition and verve, and lovely lingering perfume. Though this packs a noticeably high alcohol content, it manages to avoid coming off as blowsy or hot, and has above-average concentration for an entry-level wine. Very well done.

About Italy

Italy, like France, offers a world of wine styles within a single country: dry Italian white wines ranging from lively and minerally to powerful and full-bodied; cheap and cheerful Italian red wines in both a cooler, northern style and a richer, warmer southern style; structured, powerful reds capable of long aging in bottle; sparkling wines; sweet wines and dessert wines.
