($40; a roughly 50/50 blend of sangiovese and cabernet sauvignon) Medium-deep red. Enticing aromas of strawberry, red cherry, aromatic herbs and shoe polish. Clean, bright and fruity but youthfully restrained, with bright acidity and a firm tannic spine supporting the fresh red fruit and dried herb flavors and giving lift to the long, smooth finish. One of the best vintages to date, if not the best, for this bottling.
