2009 Melville Vineyards and Winery Pinot Noir Estate Sta. Rita Hills
Producer: Melville Vineyards and Winery
Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Pinot Noir
Origin: California
Region: Central Coast
Appellation: Santa Barbara
92 Points | International Wine Cellar , December 2009
Deep, bright red. Sexy, open-knit raspberry and floral scents,
complicated by subtle anise and allspice nuances. Suave,
silky and bright, with energetic raspberry and cherry flavors lifted by
tangy acidity. Very suave pinot with no rough edges. Fills out with
air and shows excellent clarity on the long, intensely perfumed finish.

1st Tasted December 17, 2011 (4:42PM) right out of the glass at cellar temp; delicious honeyed apple/orange with touch of spice; descr is pretty good; wonderful the next day out of the fridge; seems as good or better than Ojai Clos Pepe

I give it a 5 since it is extremely difficult to find a pinot noir of this quality for under $50.
Nice buy

Smooth tasting with a little spice on the edge, solid finish. I am really getting into Pinot lately and this is a very good value. Kept well and tasted even better a few days later.
Better than most Pinots

The Melville was better than most of the Pinots we have gotten through WA. Not that the others were bad, just that this one had more character and style. Standard CA pinot, well done.
