About Beckmen Vineyards
When winemaker Steve Beckmen returned from Italy in 1997, he was convinced that his family's recently purchased hillside in Santa Barbara County would be perfect for growing Rhône varietals. His father Tom was skeptical, but since then, Purisima Mountain Vineyard has established itself as one of the finest sources of Syrah and Grenache in the Central Coast.

($52) Opaque purple. Oak-spiced blackberry and boysenberry on the nose, with complicating notes of licorice, vanilla and dried violet. Lush, sappy and open-knit, with sweet dark berry compote and cherry-vanilla flavors that are lifted by tangy acidity. Closes on a sweet, fruity note, with an echo of smoky oak. Give this a bit of time for the wood and fruit to harmonize.
