($42; just 20% new oak) Good medium red. Musky, slightly raw aromas of red berries and pepper. Sweet on entry, then peppery and uncompromising in the middle, with a much more restrained sweetness to its red berry, earth and tobacco flavors. Moderately dense but not at all thick-and quite light on its feet. Finishes with a serious dusting of fine tannins. I like this style.
