($72; from a vineyard planted at 1,700 feet, across the valley from Red Willow; 50% new oak; alcohol just under 13%) Good deep red. Enticing claret-like aromas of plum, scorched earth and roasted meat. Silky but laid-back; in fact, this is no more forthcoming today than the Rosa Mystica Cabernet Franc bottling. Subtle flavors of spices, herbs, smoke and flowers. Very firmly built cabernet franc, finishing with slightly edgy tannins, good length and a hint of chocolate. Still, I preferred the Rosa Mystica example for its lift and vibrancy.
