89 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - March/April 2011

Bright straw-yellow. Complex, enticing aromas of pungent gooseberry, green melon, lemon and herbs are lifted by a hint of refreshing minerality. More citrus fruits on the palate, complemented by riper pear and peach flavors that give the wine convincing depth and a building minerally brightness. The most impressive Leone d'Almerita in memory, as recent vintages of this bottling have been dominated by an overwhelming and ultimately boring chardonnay presence; this vintage is almost back to the very fine form of the 2006.
