($24) Lurid purple. Bright, assertively perfumed aromas of blackberry, cherry, licorice and violet. Deep and spicy, offering mineral-driven dark berry flavors that show excellent clarity and a suave floral quality. Tangy acidity adds lift and cut to a long, sappy finish. This wine's blend of richness and energy is intriguing.

This wine got 5 stars based on value and the fact that it went so well with all the Portuguese food we had - some steak and duck. It has some earthy and rustic characteristics, but also has some nice dark fruits and it is very food friendly. A bit of minor barnyard funk that blew off after a little while (I recommend decanting), and then it was a very yummy wine that went down easy.
