Pale bright yellow. Very closed on the nose, hinting at lemon peel and menthol. Then fairly rich and silky but quite dry; deeper than the basic bottling and full for this cuvee Still a tad warm on the back, but here the alcohol makes its presence known a bit later, as the wine has more supporting texture.
Alsace has been almost pathologically ignored by the American wine-drinking public for generations--a real mystery in light of the great number of juicy, pure wines produced in this picture-postcard region of northeastern France. Read More »
The Riesling grape may scare away some wine novices. In Germany, where the grape reaches its finest expression, labels hew to a rigid, abstruse set of classifications, leaving newcomers with little idea what they may be looking at.
