($44) Vivid red. Nuanced, spice-accented nose offers red and black fruits and a whiff of licorice. Sweet and intense, with excellent focus and purity to the black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors. Shows impressive energy and finishes with building but sweet and harmonious tannins. I really like this wine's balance.

Disappointed

As a rule I love the Ojai wines . . but this one . . and maybe it was simply the particular bottle I opened was somewhat of a disappointment. It felt musty - not corked - but musty and did not leave a clean, berry, joyful mouth feel. Could have been the luck of the draw. I have several other bottles in my cellar - so let's see how they turn out.
