About Ken Wright Cellars
In the historic part of Carlton, there is a newcomer, who started making wine here in 1994. A transplant from Kentucky, Ken Wright is a leading proponent of vineyard-designated wines, and has come to be known for sweet, user-friendly Pinot Noirs from nearly a dozen of Oregon’s best sites.
2009 Ken Wright Cellars Pinot Noir Abbott Claim Vineyard Yamhill-Carlton District
Producer: Ken Wright Cellars
Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Pinot Noir
Origin: Oregon
Region: Willamette Valley
91 Points | International Wine Cellar , July/August 2011
Deep, bright ruby. Cherry compote and blackberry aromas, complicated by suave spice and violet nuances and a hint of vanillin oak. Plush and broad, offering pliant dark berry flavors and notes of musky herbs and anise. A mineral note builds with air and adds lift and energy to the long, oak-spiced finish. I'd serve this with an aggressively seasoned piece of grilled red meat.
