(80% grenache and 20% syrah):  Deep ruby.  Aromas of cassis, cherry pit, tobacco and licorice, with a touch of black pepper; I'd have guessed that there was more syrah in here.  Hefty, palate-coating dark fruit flavors are lifted by tangy acidity and pick up smokiness with air.  Supple and sweet on the finish, which leaves notes of dark berries and licorice behind.
