91 Points | Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
One thing I have learned about Xavier's Rhone blends is that they are very highly strung. You really must wait at least a few MONTHS after receiving the wine to open a bottle. The difference is amazing. I suppose if I had traveled in the back of a UPS truck across the country I wouldn't be at my best for a while either.
I consider this wine a good balance between New World opulence and Old World elegance. My husband prefers California reds but he likes this one. I prefer French wines so this one works for us.
A bit young now but I expect laying down the rest of the case will provide a very good tasting experience in 5 years and I am looking forward to that day!
very good for the price......

Xavier Chateauneuf-du-Pape - 2009
I purchased this wine to fill a gap in my collection, needing a flexible dinner wine that could also evolve over ten-fifteen years. Of course I sampled it immediately anyway, and the potential in this red is obvious. Wonderful in aroma and texture, it will be hard to wait.
excellent Chateauneuf at great price
this Chateauneuf is a real steal at this Cote de Rhones pricing..great value
Xavier Vignon Chateauneuf du Pape
Rather disappointed. Expected fuller and rich taste. Rather tasted flat with little finish.
About Chateauneuf du Pape
The Rhone's Chateauneuf du Pape has been one of the hottest categories of the new millennium in the American market, thanks in equal part to the nearly candied ripeness and full-bodied, chewy texture of these wines and to an unprecedented string of four consecutive very good to outstanding vintages between 1998 and 2001.
