Inky purple.  Cherry compote and singed plum on the nose, complicated by a hint of cured meat and a peppery nuance.  Sappy and broad, offering ripe dark fruit flavors and a lightly spicy quality.  Appealingly fruity and open-knit, finishing with good length and subtle sweetness.
