92 Points | International Wine Cellar , January/February 2011

($60; 97% marsanne and 3% roussanne, raised in 100% new oak) Bright gold. Sexy, oak-spiced pit fruits and marzipan on the nose, with lively citrus and mineral nuances adding vivacity. Sappy, penetrating and broad on the palate, offering densely packed nectarine and orange flavors enhanced by exotic notes of candied licorice and honeycomb. Becomes chewier with air and finishes with excellent clarity and a resonating mineral quality. This seems to be sucking up its oak quickly. Guigal says that the granite soil here is responsible for the wine's tension.
