($29) Bright purple. Primary dark fruit and floral aromas show hints of dark chocolate and smoked meat. Spicy blackberry and cherry compote flavors are given spine by juicy acidity and pick up dusty minerality with air. A rich but energetic wine with very good finishing punch and a meaty quality. Robin says this wine is especially sauvage this year.
