($25) Serious deep red. Blackberry, licorice, molten chocolate and smoky oak on the nose. Smooth, lush, rich and sweet, with palate-saturating flavors of dark raspberry, cocoa powder, violet, bitter chocolate, flowers and herbs. This really fills the mouth on the round, suavely tannic finish. A fairly convincing syrah from cuttings that came from the northern and southern Rhone and are now about 40 years old.

Great syrah

Well done here. I am a big Rhone fan and this is a perfect example of a great syrah. Blind I would not have know it didn't come from the Rhone. It is young and the fruit will need some time to open up but it is worth the wait.
