(15.6% alcohol; includes bits of cabernet franc and petit verdot from an acre of vines planted above this vineyard in 2007): Good deep, bright ruby. Varietally expressive aromas of plum, black cherry, mocha, menthol, spices and tobacco leaf. Lush, sweet and rich but with surprising energy for such a layered wine. Chocolate and mocha notes are nicely countered by mineral lift. Builds slowly and inexorably on the back end, finishing with noteworthy power.
