Dark, fully saturated inky-ruby. Complex, wild nose combines blackberry liqueur, dried flowers, botanical herbs, clove and a whiff of ink. Ripe, dense and luscious, with plenty of spicy, syrupy black fruit flavors lifted by much-needed acidity. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and lingering sweetness. There's no shortage of concentration here, but I was left wishing for a little more finesse. Still, this is an excellent, impressive wine: a couple years in the cellar should bring more refinement.
