Medium green-yellow. Initially quite restrained on the nose, revealing delicate Golden Delicious apple, orange zest, white pepper and dark wet slate aromas only after aeration. A taut acid spine gives lift to the wine's powerful body, but the fruit and spice flavors complicated by tobacco leaf, soft smoky minerals and black slate are still tightly sealed. This is a well-balanced wine of real depth and structure, but it demands time to evolve in the bottle. Drink 2014 to 2024.
