About Peter Michael Winery
Appropriately enough, Sir Peter Michael, an Englishman who made his name in electronics, established his vineyard in Sonoma County's Knights Valley. From the moment he purchased the property in 1982, Sir Michael has insisted upon an Old-World approach to New World wine. Terroir is paramount here, along with elegance in favor of overstatement.
2009 Peter Michael Winery Chardonnay Cuvee Indigene Sonoma County
Producer: Peter Michael Winery
Style: White Wine
Grape Type: Chardonnay
Origin: California
Region: Sonoma
95 Points | International Wine Cellar , May/June 2011
Greenish gold. Pungent aromas of dried pear, lemon pith, saffron and smoky lees, with slow-building minerality and a touch of peat. Densely packed but energetic, offering lively orchard and citrus fruit flavors and an exotic floral quality. The peaty note resonates strongly on the finish, which hangs on with impressive tenacity. For all its power, this chardonnay conveys a sense of weightlessness.
