($26; includes bits of syrah and carmenere) Bright ruby-red. Pungent aromas of red berry and cherry skin, sassafras and dried rose. Supple, palate-caressing raspberry and cherry compote flavors are complemented by notes of spice cake and floral pastilles and pick up a smoky hint of the back half. Shows real suavity, finishing with excellent clarity and length. This wine got one-third new French oak but I don't detect it.
