About Peter Michael Winery
Appropriately enough, Sir Peter Michael, an Englishman who made his name in electronics, established his vineyard in Sonoma County's Knights Valley. From the moment he purchased the property in 1982, Sir Michael has insisted upon an Old-World approach to New World wine. Terroir is paramount here, along with elegance in favor of overstatement.
2009 Peter Michael Winery Pinot Noir Clos du Ciel Sonoma Coast Fort Ross-Seaview

Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Pinot Noir
Origin: California
Region: Sonoma
Appellation: Sonoma Coast
93 Points | International Wine Cellar , May/June 2011
Bright ruby-red. Spice-accented aromas of strawberry and raspberry, with suggestions of dried rose and cola adding complexity. Juicy, palate-staining red fruit preserve flavors are lifted by a zesty mineral note and become spicier with air. Seems even more delicate than the Ma Danseuse but this is carrying 15.5% alcohol. Repeats the strawberry note on the very long, juicy, linear finish. This could use a little time in bottle to unwind.
