89-92 Points | International Wine Cellar , May/June 2011
Dark, opaque ruby. Very ripe aromas of black fruits, cocoa, mint and dried herbs. Supple on entry, then shows a strong bitter coffee and herbal character that suggests a wide range of fruit ripeness. This big, structured wine finishes with mounting, palate-coating tannins and a lingering cassis note. Seems rather heavily extracted but has plenty of fruit. Currently a bit chunky and monolithic, this wine will need time in the cellar to develop more complexity. Those who prefer big, seriously tannic Bordeaux may score this higher than I did. (I should note that one of my samples was astringent and tough.)
