(from the winery's best barrels): Dark red. Slightly high-toned aromas of dark berries, meat, spicecake, licorice and herbs. Densely packed but a bit youthfully monolithic, with dark berry and pepper flavors offering modest nuance. Today the wine's slightly gritty, oak-driven tannins shorten the finishing fruit.
