(made from fruit grown in the Hyde vineyard, all old Wente clone; 50% new oak and no battonage):  Bright gold.  A wild, intensely perfumed bouquet evokes fresh pear, lemon and melon, along with note sf iodine and salty minerals.  Stains the palate with deep orchard fruit and floral flavors, showing a powerful mineral overtone and excellent back end thrust.  Finishes sappy and gently sweet, with superb clarity and subtle smokiness.
