(65% syrah and 35% merlot):  Opaque purple.  Pungent aromas of blackcurrant, cherry compote, licorice and woodsmoke.  Supple and pliant, offering deeply pitched dark berry preserve and bitter cherry flavors, supple tannins and slow-building minerality.  Combines richness and energy smoothly and finishes with excellent clarity and lingering spiciness.  (JR)
