vinified with one-third whole clusters):  Opaque ruby.  Intensely perfumed aromas of black raspberry and licorice, with dusty mineral and violet nuances gaining power with air.  Strikingly pure, vibrant dark fruit and floral pastille flavors stain the palate, with zesty minerality adding to the impression of energy.  This syrah strongly channels the northern Rhone, finishing with persistent spiciness and noteworthy focus.
