Bright green-tinged yellow.  Cooler on the nose and palate than the 2009, offering notes of underripe pineapple, crushed rock, gooseberry, licorice and fresh herbs.  Suave and energetic, with penetrating minerality contributing to the impression of purity and thrust.  Showing more definition and phenolic grip than the oakier 2009, this should make a dynamite food wine.  Winemaker Philippe Melka stirs the lees for the first six months.  A superb and distinctive California sauvignon.
