(15.7% alcohol; from a vineyard originally planted in the 1860s, then replanted in the 1880s):  Dark red.  Musky nut skin dominates the nose.  Plush, expansive and seamless but lacking the verve of most of the other 2009 zins from Robert Biale; seems overripe.  Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins and a bit of free-floating acidity.  I'd consume this in the short term.
