About Ravenswood Winery
Ravenswood Winery has humble origins, beginning in 1976. This was the year Joel Peterson harvested his first crop of Zinfandel. Not from his own vines, however, Joel consistently sourced grapes from vineyards in Sonoma County and Napa Valley. At first it wasn’t by choice, he simply couldn’t afford to buy land. Now, steadfast relationships have delivered a successful formula. As the old saying goes…if it ain’t broke…

Opaque ruby. Highly perfumed bouquet evokes black raspberry and cherry, with complicating nuances of dried rose and Asian spices. Sweet, focused red fruit preserve flavors are given strong spine by zesty minerality, picking up an exotic floral pastille quality with air. Expands nicely on the finish, leaving behind sweet floral and raspberry notes. Packs a lot of flavor while showing superb vivacity and clarity. Joel Peterson told me that he got especially long hang time in this vineyard in '09.
