Located on the slopes and plateau of Saint-Etienne de Lisse, 6 km to the East of Saint-Emilion, Chateau Faugeres is a blend of 85% merlot, 10% cabernet franc, 5% cabernet sauvignon with an average vine age of 35 years grown in the classic clay-limestone soils of Saint Emillon. The vines are meticulously cared for, with plowing of the soil and grass-cover, “guyot double” pruning, leaf stripping, green harvesting, manual picking, and two successive sorting tables to select grapes. There is a short pre-fermentation maceration in cold conditions, followed by temperature-controlled stainless steel conical vats and 14 months, 50% in new and 50% in used oak-barrels. The result is a dense, supple and ripe Saint Emilion with loads of dark fruits, plum, and tea notes. Region: Saint Emilion Grand Cru Cepage: 85% merlot, 10% cabernet franc, 5% cabernet sauvignon Vinification: 14 months, 50% in new and 50% in used oak-barrels. Drink: 2017-2025
