About Domaine Louis Michel

In six generations of winemaking here in Chablis, the Michel family has developed a no nonsense approach. You won't find the distracting presence of oak in these immaculate Chardonnays, because no wood is used in their cellaring.

Subtle if slightly exotic aromas of apricot, peach and orange blossom.  Beautifully balanced in a fruit-driven style, with an enticing sugar/acid balance accentuating the wine's mid-palate precision.  This firmly built, very fruity grand cru will be accessible young but has the energy and intensity to age well.

It was delicious upon opening with pure, clean, crisp flavors that I find so appealing. Although I had it with chicken, I can see this smooth, versatile wine working with a wide variety of foods (I'm already thinking vegetable risotto, scallops, pork roast). And as a solo act - this one sings! Darn fine bottle...
Chablis as Chablis should be.

Not too austere but pure chardonnay with a nice flint finish. I could enjoy this wine every day with some lobster or a nice white fish. Recommend.

About Chablis

Wine lovers who have come to think of Chardonnay as weighty and thick will find Chablis a revelation. When grown in the cool clay-and-chalk soils around the sleepy town of Chablis, at the northern reach of Burgundy, Chardonnay is transformed into one of the world's most cerebral and distinctive white wines. With its brisk...

Chardonnay

The best Chardonnays in the world continue to arrive from the region where the grape first emerged: the chalk, clay, and limestone vineyards of Burgundy and Chablis. While the origins of the grape were disputed for many years, with some speculating that the grape came all the way from the Middle East, DNA researchers at the University of California-Davis proved in 1999 that Chardonnay actually developed...
