90(+?) Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - September/October 2011

Bright gold-tinged straw. Closed nose hints at ripe sauvignon aromas of gooseberry, green fig, sage and lemon icing. Then light and fresh in the mouth, with persistent but youthfully tight flavors. This very fine sauvignon needs another year of bottle age to develop greater aromatic expression. Still, it's pretty good right now and its potential is easy to see. Winemaker Lorenzo Landi favors a highly reductive style of winemaking in an attempt to preserve as many of the desirable thiol aroma molecules as possible, but this means that his wines are typically very closed at first and improve considerably with aeration, or with 6 to 12 months of bottle aging after release.
