Deep ruby-red. Slightly austere nose of red cherry, smoked beef and herbs. Ripe and round in the mouth, with lively flavors of red berries and orange peel. Not the last word in complexity, but this wine's lovely acid/sugar balance and its bright, smoothly tannic finish make it an ideal all-around table wine. This delicious easy-drinking style is what Valpolicella ought to be but seldom is.
