About Alban Vineyards
John Alban makes some of the most aromatically complex and explosively rich wines in the New World from traditional Rhone varieties. Since 1989 he’s worked entirely with fruit from his own superb clonal material, planted on chalk-rich hillside vineyards in Edna Valley.

Origin: California
Region: Central Coast
92 Points | International Wine Cellar , November/December 2011
Bright gold. Deeply pitched aromas of orange pith, poached pear, iodine and salty minerals. Palate-staining orchard and pit fruit flavors show an almost viscous texture and but are nicely enlivened by juicy acidity. Becomes spicier with air, displaying serious intensity but also surprising energy for a wine carrying 15.8% alcohol. Closes on a stony note, with strong finishing cut and sappy persistence.
