(the fruit for this wine, which is a side project of winemaker David Yates, was sourced from the Presidio vineyard, a cool site west of the Sta. Rita Hills near Lompoc): Light, bright red. Red berries, cherry and herbs on the spice-accented, smoky nose. A juicy, taut midweight that offers gently sweet redcurrant and cherry flavors. Shows a touch of blood orange on the finish, which clings with very good intensity and lingering spiciness.
