(from a Serralunga vineyard; 50% stainless steel and 50% barriques, one-third of which were new; bottled in June of 2011; 14% alcohol):  Very deep ruby.  Knockout perfume of cassis, black cherry, violet and bitter chocolate.  Dense, strong and primary, with a seamless texture to the black fruit, licorice and violet flavors.  High in acidity but not austere, as the wood element gives a roundness and sweetness to the wine.  Very long and rich on the back end.  A beauty.
