90 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - November/December 2011
(aged in old casks holding from 25 to 50 hectoliters): Good bright red-ruby. Aromatic nose offers black cherry, raspberry, violet, licorice and herbs. Sweet, intense fruit is buttressed by a firm spine of acidity. Brisk but not hard. Finishes with lightish tannins, excellent energy and lovely purity. An excellent barbera from a terrific vintage for this variety.
