(from vines "300 meters outside of Monforte,"  according to Matteo Sardagna; aged in barriques and larger oak casks):  Bright full ruby.  Very ripe, high-toned aromas of cassis and bitter chocolate.  Sweet cherry and chocolate truffle flavors clash with the wine's high alcohol and acidity, giving the back end of this distinctly high-toned wine a tart quality.
