(from 25-year-old vines on the same hillside in Monforte as the dolcetto):  Saturated dark ruby.  Black fruits, dark chocolate, wild herbs and a suggestion of meat on the nose.  Broad, fine-grained and surprisingly brisk, with nicely distributed acidity and a light touch from the strong calcaire content of the soil.  Distinctly tighter than the '07 Scudetto, finishing with a burst of acid-driven energy.
