91 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - January 2013

(65% grenache, 20% syrah and 15% mourvedre):  Vivid purple.  Dark berries, lavender and Asian spices on the perfumed nose.  Fleshy and seamless on the palate, offering gently sweet blackberry and blueberry flavors that are given spine by juicy acidity.  Finishes tangy and long, with resonating spiciness and harmonious tannins.

2010 Domaine Le Couroulu Vacqueyras Cuvee Classique
(87+ Points) Decent, big ~$16 red. Fresh cherry-juice, blackberry, lavender, rose-petal, mulberry, & thyme nose. Big, ripe palate with rich red & black-cherry & spicy black fruit up-front. Good acidity enhances some nice freshness. Rough-ish, brambly mid-palate with dried herbs. Slightly drying (Mouvedre) tannins in the finish. Medium-light intensity. Better nose than palate. This screams for some good BBQ beef or pork. Give it a little time in the cellar (or decanter), but not too much - the fruit's the best part of this baby.
