92-94 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - March/April 2012

(100% new oak):  Dark purple.  Exotic aromas of blackberry liqueur, violet, cured tobacco and espresso, with an emphatically spicy overtone.  Sweet, supple and velvety, with bright acidity adding lift and focus to the sweet black and blue fruit flavors.  Shows impressive finesse for a wine so lush and deeply fruity.  This very suave Saint Joseph shows a strong espresso note on the palate-staining finish.
