(bottled two weeks before my visit): Bright medium red. More pristine aromas than the Serra: red raspberry, cherry and rose petal, lifted by a stony element. Then suave, lush and clean in the mouth, with nicely integrated acidity giving shape and lift to the flavors of fruits and flowers. Lovely noble texture and balance here. Finishes with sweet, building tannins and a hint of leather. Silvano Pasquero-Elia is a fan of the 2008 Barbarescos, describing them as having "a lot of potential, maybe similar to 2001. The '09s are very nice, fresh, intense wines, with very ripe tannins compared to 2008."
