Inky ruby.  Powerful, expansive aromas of raspberry liqueur, Asian spices, sandalwood and smoky minerals, with an exotic floral nuance that gains power with air.  Deeply concentrated but lively, offering palate-staining red fruit and floral pastille flavors and a strong spicy quality.  Fine-grained tannins add grip to an incredibly long, sappy and penetrating finish, which clings with remarkable tenacity.  One of the great wines of the Rhone from this outstanding vintage.
