(a 50/50 blend):  Good medium red-ruby.  Spicy aromas of blackberry, licorice, minerals and menthol, plus a distinct smokiness from the syrah.  Supple on entry, then a bit medicinal and dry in the middle, with flavors of spices, herbs and bitter chocolate.  Despite some slightly edgy acidity, this could use a bit more definition.  A tad dry on the finish.
