90 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - March/April 2012

Deep ruby- red. Black cherry, blackcurrant, coffee and cocoa on the varietally expressive nose. Smooth, ripe and broad, showing an attractive restrained sweetness to the flavors of dark cherry, tobacco and herbs. Finishes with substantial building, dusty tannins. This might lack the concentration for an outstanding score, but I like the wine's upfront appeal and believe it will flesh out and gain complexity with a couple more years of bottle age.
