90 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - March/April 2012

Deep ruby. Delicate aromas of cassis, tobacco and cocoa bean. Smooth and nicely balanced in the mouth, with red cherry and blackcurrant flavors complicated by green pepper, orange peel and coffee. The long finish displays a lingering peppery note. A rather civilized version of Amarone with a graceful personality, although a hint of alcoholic warmth emerges on the back. This is also the first year that the Capitel Monte Olmi contains oseleta; with a little experience, you'll be able to recognize its forceful tannins and delicate herbal streak, which is different from the bell pepper of underripe cabernet sauvignon.
