(includes 9% viognier):  Opaque purple.  A complex, highly perfumed nose displays cassis, licorice, violet, mocha and olive tapenade.  Juicy, incisive dark fruit flavors are tightly wound on entry but unfold slowly with aeration.  At once concentrated and bright, finishing with smooth tannins and lingering spice and mineral notes.  Very young but also very promising.  The youthful 2009 bottling is showing a wild, highly complex bouquet of olive, dark berries and smoky Indian spices right now--it really should be left alone for a few more years, at a minimum.
